Hang Ten Systems closed an additional $53M in seed funding on Wednesday, five weeks after the $32M round it raised at launch. Total funding reaches $85M.
Temasek’s early-stage platform Xora led, with Mayfield, which led the first round, and Aramco Ventures returning. Individual backers include Intel chief executive Lip-Bu Tan, Micron chief executive Sanjay Mehrotra and Yahoo co-founder Jerry Yang, who has joined the board.
The Palo Alto company, founded by former Infosys chief executive Vishal Sikka, advises and rebuilds software for enterprises that typically top $10B in revenue. Its engineers work from an in-house framework called Hobie that packages reusable skills for regulated industries, and the company promises a tenfold gain in cost, speed or both against incumbent integrators.
Sikka argues that AI has pushed the cost and time of building software close to zero, which moves the hard part to defining requirements and validating results. He told TechCrunch that one customer signed a multimillion-dollar contract 25 days after a first meeting, and that Hang Ten now works across 21 large enterprises including Fresenius Kabi, Saudi Aramco and Siemens Energy, with several eight-figure deals in pursuit.
The team numbers only 20 to 25 people. Co-founder and chief design officer Sanjay Rajagopalan said crews of two to four engineers handle projects that once needed about 30, though customers or third parties still run final quality checks. Sikka said the startup has turned down acquisition interest from much larger companies while it scales.
