Suno Studio 2.0 lets keyboards feed AI tracks with real playing

The upgrade turns keyboard playing into generation prompts inside a fuller digital audio workstation.

Suno released Studio 2.0 on August 13, adding MIDI recording and editing to its browser-based audio workstation. Musicians can import or play in notes on the timeline, use a typing keyboard when they have no controller, and design sounds with a new wavetable synth built into the app.

The distinctive piece is what Studio does with that MIDI. Clips can serve as the prompt for new generations, so a producer can play a chord progression or melody and have Suno render it as audio, extend it or build on it. The feature was the most-requested addition since the workstation launched in September 2025.

Studio 2.0 also brings a session-aware chat collaborator, custom effects plugins built by describing them in chat, track automation curves and higher-fidelity stem separation. Premier subscribers can export 32-bit, 48kHz multitracks and stems without limits, and plugin creation carries no credit cost at launch.

The update arrives a day after Suno announced a global partnership with BMG, tied to what Suno says will be its first music model developed with a major label. The company says text prompts still work for inspiration, but playing a real part should live inside the next generation of music software.
