Salesforce agreed to buy Braze for $5.66B, adding a customer engagement platform built around AI marketing tools to its enterprise stack.
Braze shares closed at $30.04 on Monday and jumped more than 50% on Tuesday after a brief premarket halt, which implies a substantial premium to that price.
The target manages customer data and messaging for marketers, work that increasingly runs through automated decisioning. Chief executive Bill Magnuson said the combination would let the company build faster for the customers and partners who got it here.
An agentic stack assembled by acquisition
The purchase follows Salesforce’s roughly $3.6B deal for AI customer service platform Fin earlier this year. In August the company widened its Anthropic partnership around a plugin called Claudeforce, which carries prebuilt sales skills for writing emails and updating records.
The pattern is consistent. Salesforce is buying the interfaces where customer conversations happen, then wiring frontier models underneath them, rather than building each capability in-house.
Braze shareholders gain a clean exit at a moment when standalone marketing software is being repriced. Agents that can compose and target campaigns compress the value of tools that only store segments and schedule sends.
Regulatory review is the remaining variable, and a deal this size in a consolidating category will draw attention before it closes.
