Bloomberg said on October 1 that it closed its acquisition of Canoe Intelligence, an AI platform that automates private markets data collection and delivery. The deal was first announced on July 29.
Canoe acts as a translation layer for unstructured private fund information. It gathers and validates the data, then feeds it in a structured, portfolio-ready form into downstream systems, including Bloomberg PORT Enterprise, the firm’s portfolio and risk analytics product.
With the transaction complete, joint clients can use the existing Canoe to PORT Enterprise integration immediately, pulling permissioned, validated private fund data into a Total Portfolio View that spans public and private assets.
Bloomberg outlined five development areas. It plans to expand Canoe’s core platform and reach, deepen post-investment workflows for exposure and cash management, add pre-investment screening and benchmarking, normalize data around standards such as FIGI, and push intelligence through ASKB, Bloomberg’s agentic conversational interface.
Chief executive Vlad Kliatchko said adding Canoe’s data and technology advances Bloomberg’s push to lead in private markets.
