Yardstik banks $30M to watch workers after hiring day

Yardstik's new $30M round funds continuous workforce monitoring that outlasts a one-time background check.

The background check, as employers know it, ends on day one. Yardstik, a Minneapolis workforce technology company, has raised $30M in a Series B led by Harbert Growth Partners to push verification past hiring day and into the months that follow.

The company’s Human Trust Platform bundles fraud prevention, identity verification, and credential screening with continuous monitoring that watches criminal databases, sex offender registries, and federal watchlists after a worker is onboarded. New funding extends the watch to motor vehicle records, OIG exclusion lists, and license-expiry alerts.

Founder and chief executive Andrew Johnson argues generative AI has turned one-time checks into an artifact of a slower era. Synthetic identities, deepfake interviews, and fabricated credentials slip past static screens, and fresh risks surface only after someone is already on the payroll.

Johnson describes the platform as a live feed where screening used to be a photograph: if a license lapses the day after hiring, the employer learns that day, not at the next annual review. The round brings Yardstik’s total funding to $65M.
