Stability AI’s Series B closes at $76M with entertainment companies lining the cap table. Universal Music Group, Sony Music Group, Warner Music Group, and Electronic Arts took part, alongside AMD Ventures and Pacific Alliance Ventures. Total fundraising now reaches $232M.
The investor mix tracks Stability’s strategy of embedding generative AI into entertainment production rather than selling raw licensing. Deals signed with Universal Music and EA last October and Warner Music last November give those firms a co-development role in its tools. The company sells models for music, video, and image generation, and says the new money will expand its creative production suite and professional services arm.
CEO Prem Akkaraju described the round as “an affirmation of our vision where generative AI empowers every producer, musician, and storyteller.”
The company is also enjoying a good run in court. A UK judge largely sided with Stability in Getty Images’ copyright suit over training data, though a US case from Getty is still pending. A 2023 lawsuit from co-founder Cyrus Hodes, who said he was tricked into selling his stake by Emad Mostaque, also hangs over the company.
