As first reported by RTI, the 2025 Taiwan Expo in Malaysia opened on June 23 at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre, highlighting Taiwan’s ambition to expand beyond its established semiconductor strengths and deepen cooperation with Malaysia in artificial intelligence. According to Walter Yeh, Secretary General of TAITRA, this partnership directly supports Malaysia’s New Industrial Master Plan 2030 (NIP2030), which prioritizes high-end manufacturing and AI integration. With Taiwan’s advanced AI ecosystem and strong global manufacturing ties, the expo sets the stage for collaborative efforts in smart manufacturing, sustainable development, and digital transformation.

This year’s expo features 200 Taiwanese companies, 16% of which are AI-related, spanning applications from healthcare to energy management. Notable participants include top medical institutions such as China Medical University Hospital and Chang Gung Memorial Hospital, which are showcasing AI-driven solutions tailored to Malaysia’s maturing healthcare market. Yeh emphasized that Taiwan is committed to long-term partnerships, moving beyond short-term business orders toward lasting industrial integration.

Phoebe Yeh, Taiwan’s representative in Malaysia, reinforced the message of mutual growth and enduring ties. With bilateral trade exceeding $39 billion in 2024—a 38.5% year-over-year increase—Taiwan now stands as Malaysia’s fourth-largest trading partner. She also highlighted the impact of Taiwan-educated Malaysian alumni, now active in various sectors, as essential bridges between both societies. The Expo’s five key themes—AI and Industry 4.0, Green Sustainability, and Health and Welfare—further reflect Taiwan’s readiness to contribute its technological and social capital to Malaysia’s development goals.

Federation of Malaysian Manufacturers President Tan Sri Soh Thian Lai praised the Expo for showcasing global tech trends and opening up new possibilities for Malaysian industries to expand into international markets. He encouraged deeper exploration of the technologies on display, calling the Expo a platform for transformative partnerships that enhance Malaysia’s industrial competitiveness.

Through the 2025 Taiwan Expo in Malaysia, Taiwan is positioning itself as a strategic AI partner to help Malaysia achieve its NIP2030 goals. By promoting long-term cooperation across technology, education, and healthcare, both sides are laying the foundation for a shared, innovation-driven future.
