YouTube used its annual creator event on Wednesday to push AI deeper into the machinery that decides who gets watched.

The centrepiece is an agent that works in the background on a channel. It watches older videos for renewed relevance, then suggests new titles or thumbnails. It can also assemble brand pitches by pulling audience and demographic data out of a creator’s channel.

Uploads now get AI-drafted titles and thumbnails matched to the creator’s existing style. Dynamic thumbnails let up to three images compete across different audience segments. YouTube said creators have already run more than 40M A/B tests on titles and thumbnails, and will soon be able to test three cuts of the same video, with the winner promoted automatically after seven days.

Viewers get a say too. Custom feeds, built with Google’s Gemini, let anyone describe the recommendations they want in a prompt box. The resulting feed gets its own tab beside the main one.

YouTube Music picked up Ask Music, a conversational way to build queues from a catalog of more than 300M songs, plus a weekly AI-written podcast preview called Your Podcast Lineup. Both arrive for YouTube Music and YouTube Premium subscribers.

Asked whether the tools actually grow channels, YouTube declined to share performance data. Vice president Amjad Hanif said the gain is time returned to creative work.
