DoorDash has moved its AI coding agents off developer laptops and onto a cloud platform it calls Flux, a shift the company says let it automate 130,000 engineering tasks in a single month.

Flux now runs more than 25,000 automated code reviews a week across over 300 reusable playbooks, with more than 10,000 weekly invocations. Engineers trigger the work from Slack, GitHub, or scheduled jobs, and DoorDash keeps enterprise security guardrails on everything the agents touch.

The move followed a string of problems with laptop-based agents, according to security architect Radoslav Krehlik. Local execution is capped by CPU and memory, depends on the developer’s device staying online, and hands autonomous agents access to credentials and internal systems, while making it hard to see where they run and what they reach.

Flux is built on four primitives: cloud sandboxes that isolate execution, an MCP gateway that controls access to internal systems, playbooks that define the work, and invocation surfaces that let workflows run unattended and in parallel.
