A six-year compute agreement between Anthropic and British infrastructure firm Nscale is worth roughly $45B, a person familiar with the deal told TechCrunch, confirming an earlier Bloomberg report.
Nscale will supply the capacity from its flagship data center in West Virginia, built around Nvidia’s Vera Rubin platform, a new system that runs six different chips in concert. The compute is expected to start powering Anthropic’s services in late 2027.
Founded only in 2024, Nscale already counts Microsoft among its customers. The pact extends Anthropic’s buying spree, which includes a $10B deal with Volta for a Norway data center, a $5B agreement with AMD in July, a SpaceX arrangement providing $1.25B in monthly capacity, and expanded Amazon, Google, and Broadcom deals.
Anthropic is hardly alone in hoarding compute. Google, OpenAI, and Meta are locking up capacity too as frontier labs compete for the hardware that trains and runs their models.
