Mistlabs raised a $26M pre-A round and took its Ambi assistant out of beta on Apple devices. Luminous Ventures led the round, with Shanghai manufacturer Huaqin Technology co-leading.
Ambi is aimed at a specific problem: assistants that forget. The system watches relevant conversations on supported platforms, builds a picture of the user and retains it in memory, intending to carry a commitment made in one conversation into a later one where it becomes useful.
The launch covers iPhone, Apple Watch, Mac and MacBook. Mistlabs said the funding will support a standalone AI wearable, which it has not shown publicly.
The most unusual feature is agent-to-agent coordination. Separate Ambi agents can negotiate with each other on behalf of their own users, so each side’s priorities stay with its owner rather than in a shared pool. Peter Mo, the company’s chief executive, framed the pitch as moving past assistants that wait for a prompt.
Huaqin’s involvement is a hint but not a commitment. The company develops and manufactures smart products across mobile and computing hardware, which is relevant to a wearable plan. Mistlabs did not name it as the manufacturing partner and disclosed no production agreement.
Several details remain open. Mistlabs withheld its valuation, the size of each investor’s contribution, and any detailed allocation of the funding. The company also did not explain how memory is stored or what happens to retained context when a user switches platforms.
