A new 1,000-person unit will embed engineers with Accenture clients to build and run Gemini applications, the product of a joint push by Accenture and Google Cloud.
Called the Accenture Gemini Enterprise Business Group, the operation sits inside Accenture’s Google business group and taps the consultancy’s roughly 50,000 Google Cloud-skilled staff. Google will train the forward-deployed engineers who do the embedded work.
The unit exists to close the gap between buying AI and profiting from it, a gap both companies say stalls most enterprise rollouts. Accenture chair Julie Sweet and Google Cloud CEO Thomas Kurian cast the group as the vehicle for clients moving from pilots to production-scale agentic systems.
An internal win already points the way. A Gemini Enterprise agent built with Accenture for YouTube’s NFL Sunday Ticket traffic lifted customer sentiment 11 percent while cutting average handle time 37 percent.
The announcement is part of a wider land-grab in AI implementation, with OpenAI, Anthropic, Microsoft and Amazon all funding their own forward-deployed engineer units as enterprises struggle to show returns from AI spending.
