Nvidia introduced Jetson Thor, a new family of edge AI computers designed to bring real-time reasoning capabilities to mainstream robotics and autonomous machines. The announcement marks a significant expansion of Nvidia’s robotics portfolio beyond specialized industrial systems into broader commercial and research applications.

Jetson Thor delivers server-class AI performance in a compact, power-efficient form factor, enabling robots to process sensor data, make decisions, and act on them in real time without cloud connectivity. The module is built on Nvidia’s latest architecture and supports the full Nvidia AI software stack, including tools for training, simulation, and deployment.

The launch comes alongside new physical AI foundation models that Nvidia says will accelerate development across manufacturing, logistics, healthcare, and service robotics. Several global partners unveiled next-generation robots powered by Jetson Thor at the same event.

Japan also launched the world’s first national AI infrastructure initiative in coordination with Nvidia, deploying a Vera Rubin AI factory with more than 13,000 Vera CPUs and 27,000 Rubin GPUs. Nvidia’s broader push signals a strategic bet that robotics and edge AI represent the next major growth frontier beyond cloud data centers.
