Strategic expansion into Korea
Anthropic has opened a new office in Seoul, marking a significant investment in the Korean AI ecosystem. The company has also signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Korea’s Ministry of Science and ICT to advance AI safety and cybersecurity. The partnership includes evaluating model safety in the Korean language with the Korea AI Safety Institute and sharing intelligence on AI-enabled cyber threats. KiYoung Choi, Anthropic’s Representative Director for Korea, noted that Korean organizations are building with Claude to deliver AI benefits globally.
Enterprise and startup adoption
Major Korean firms are deploying Claude across their operations. NAVER has rolled out Claude Code to its entire engineering organization. Nexon uses the tool for game development, while LG CNS is bringing Claude to thousands of employees across LG Group. Samsung SDS is deploying Claude to teams across Samsung Electronics. Startups like Channel Corp are integrating Claude into customer AI platforms serving over 230,000 companies. The company is also supporting academic research through the National AI Research Lab consortium and nonprofit work with Good Neighbors Korea.
Developer community engagement
Korea ranks among the top countries for Claude.ai usage, with a strong developer community. Anthropic has launched Claude for Startups in Korea and hosted Claude Build Day with BASS Ventures, attracting over 100 founders and developers. A forthcoming Push to Prod hackathon with Replit will allow startup teams to build with Claude Code. The Seoul office, led by Choi with three decades of experience in Korean tech, is now hiring across multiple roles.
