TikTok USDS Joint Venture is sounding out suppliers for several gigawatts of computing capacity, with one source telling CNBC it is targeting four gigawatts by the early 2030s.
The company runs the app in the United States and has been exploring options for capacity over the coming years, according to two people familiar with the discussions. A spokesperson said the business runs primarily on Oracle Cloud Infrastructure and that Oracle will remain its primary provider.
The shopping list lines up with product ambition. TikTok has machine learning roles open, including one advertising a flagship business AI product at the frontier of large-model inference and creative automation.
Sovereignty shapes the constraint. TikTok USDS was created in 2026 to satisfy an executive order requiring divestiture from ByteDance. Silver Lake, Oracle and MGX each hold 15%, the Dell Family Office is an investor, and ByteDance retained 19.9%. In January the venture said it would retrain and test its recommendation algorithm on US user data, secured inside Oracle’s domestic cloud.
Four gigawatts is not a routine cloud contract. It is roughly the scale of a large AI campus, and the disclosure lands the same week credit markets turned on the companies that build them.
