System-wide dictation and screen awareness have arrived for Meta AI users on the Mac.
The dictation capability works in any application, putting Meta alongside Wispr Flow, Superwhisper, and Monologue, and following Google’s Gemini Mac app, which gained the same trick last month.
On-screen awareness comes from Meta’s Muse Spark model. Users can ask questions about the content currently displayed without copying text around.
Merchants can wire the assistant into Instagram and Facebook profiles, Meta ad campaigns, and Google Workspace apps like Gmail, Docs, Sheets, and Slides. From there it answers questions about campaign performance and audience engagement, digs up competitor intelligence from public sources, and produces proposal decks, documents, and spreadsheets.
Chief executive Mark Zuckerberg told investors on the Q2 call that selling agents to businesses and automating their work is a big opportunity, and Meta has been pushing AI into WhatsApp and Instagram customer service.
The desktop push puts Meta in a three-way fight with OpenAI and Google for the daily attention of knowledge workers.
