Chrome’s June releases carried 1,072 security fixes, more than the browser’s previous 23 updates combined, after Google put its internal AI tooling to work hunting flaws.

Google’s security team said the two versions patched more vulnerabilities than the 1,036 fixed across the two years of releases that came before. The jump mirrors a pattern Microsoft has described with its own AI-driven security models, and analysts see the numbers as evidence that LLM-assisted analysis is dramatically expanding bug discovery in shipped software.

The knock-on effect is a faster release treadmill. Wired reports that Chrome is effectively on a twice-weekly patch schedule now, with Google warning users to expect more frequent updates.

Security teams face a double-edged situation: the same AI tools that help vendors find and close holes can also arm attackers with bigger lists of freshly discovered weaknesses. Chrome’s accelerated cadence is Google’s attempt to close that gap, and the company argues that the security payoff justifies the added update churn.
