The World Artificial Intelligence Conference and High-Level Meeting on Global AI Governance opened Thursday in Shanghai, running through July 20 under the theme “AI Partnership for a Brighter Future.”
The event, jointly organized by China’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the National Development and Reform Commission, and the Shanghai government, brings together over 1,400 prominent guests from industry, academia, and venture capital. The exhibition spans 100,000 square meters across three venues: the Shanghai World Expo Exhibition and Convention Center, the West Bund area, and Zhangjiang.
More than 1,100 companies from across the globe are presenting over 3,000 exhibits, including 300-plus new AI solutions making their global debut. Key categories such as intelligent computing and embodied AI feature contributions from over 200 companies each. One hundred eighty startups selected from 1,200 applicants are showcasing their work in industry applications, embodied AI, and infrastructure.
Deputy head of the National Development and Reform Commission Zhou Haibing said at a recent press conference that AI governance is a global issue vital to humanity’s future, with China committed to multilateralism and openness.
