Cursor has officially joined SpaceX. The AI coding company confirmed the completion of an all-stock acquisition that began in April as a partnership with SpaceXAI to speed up model training, then hardened into a $60B deal last June, days after the rocket maker’s blockbuster IPO.

The editor’s maker calls the merger a computing play. Its team says it will now draw on what it describes as the largest fleet of GPUs in the world, using that capacity to build stronger models that are also cheaper to run, and in turn offer customers more capable tools at lower cost. SpaceX already rents its data center muscle to outside tenants including Anthropic and Google.

Cursor points to Grok 4.6, released this week, as an early taste of what the two teams can produce together. In its own words, the company sees SpaceX assembling the infrastructure to push intelligence well beyond today’s limits, with Cursor acting as one of the doors through which that intelligence reaches developers.

The tie-up gives SpaceX a widely used developer brand alongside its model and cloud businesses. The open question for Cursor’s millions of users is whether the new owner shifts the product’s roadmap or pricing, something neither company has addressed beyond promises of more capable, cheaper models.
