Solink pulls $100M more to turn security cameras into business data

Half a million cameras across 35,000 customer sites now feed a vision platform that reads retail operations, not just threats

Solink raised more than $100M to expand its AI vision platform, the company said Thursday.

It started in Ottawa in 2009 selling cloud video surveillance. The software now extracts operational information from cameras retailers, restaurants and warehouses already own. Its own tally runs to roughly half a million lenses, spread across 35,000-plus sites and 65 countries, all feeding one platform.

Two product waves followed. In February came agents for perimeter security and loss prevention that run on edge devices, so nothing proprietary is needed at the camera. The VerifEye console Solink sells into security operations centers then absorbed vision language models four weeks on, so that false alarms get dropped before they reach a human screen.

Vertu Capital, a Toronto private equity firm, led the round, with a material investment from Goldman Sachs Alternatives through its growth equity group. That group led a $60M Series C in July 2023 and came back because of what it saw in adoption and the roadmap. Two names appeared on the cap table as fresh backers, Golub Growth and Comcast’s venture arm. The company did not disclose a valuation. Including this round, investors have committed more than $198M.

Chief executive Mike Matta calls the moment a watershed for physical businesses. The framing is that nobody should need to watch footage to know what is happening inside a business, which turns the camera from a security cost into an operations feed that can surface long queues, empty shelves or revenue patterns. Vertu partner Eric Kafka calls AI vision intelligence one of the most significant software opportunities going, and credits Solink with defining the category rather than waiting for it.
