Report says US tracked an alleged Chinese asset close to Jensen Huang

Nvidia spent Thursday pushing back on a New York Times report about the people around its chief executive.

The newspaper, citing people briefed on intelligence surveillance, named Alice Huang, also known as Huang Le, as an executive at Singapore cloud provider Megaspeed. She was photographed beside Jensen Huang at business dinners in the region. US agencies reportedly watched her for about a year over suspected ties to Beijing.

The stated worry was proximity. Officials feared she could collect details on Nvidia’s roadmap and on the CEO’s push to loosen export rules, and they noted his access to President Trump. The Decoder reports that Trump was briefed roughly a year ago and took no action, and that Jensen Huang himself was not warned.

An Nvidia spokesperson disputed the framing. The CEO’s relationship with the Megaspeed executive was the same as with any other regional customer, the spokesperson told TechCrunch, adding that meetings with customers are part of a chief executive’s job and that Jensen Huang talks with thousands of customer executives every year. The company also said regional cloud customers receive ordinary business information, not trade secrets and nothing relevant to national security.

Megaspeed has separately drawn scrutiny over whether it helped buyers route Nvidia hardware around US export controls. Between June 2024 and February 2026, a Malaysian sister company reportedly purchased at least $4.8B of AI hardware built on Nvidia chips. Megaspeed has opened an internal review. China’s embassy dismissed the claims as groundless.
